Useful links for tinnitus patients
Many websites exist with regards to tinnitus, some very informative, some very commercially oriented. Some contain a lot of scientifically unproven treatment of which some are worth further exploration, but others seem to be clear quackery. This short list of interesting links can help you in your internet search.
www.tinnitus.org : Dr J Hazle's website. He was the first ENT surgeon to take Jastreboff's neurophysiological model of tinnitus into clinical practice. This therapeutic model has been called TRT or tinnitus retrain therapy. It consists of a combination of a physological demystification of what tinntus really is combined with an individually adapted sound treatment.
It has further links to Jastreboff's own website www.tinnitus-pjj.com
www.tinnitus.asn.au : this is a website which allows you to listen to certain forms of tinnitus and the website also contains a good subdirectory of tinnitus links.
www.ata.org : website of the American Tinnitus Association. This is a well organized extensive website, but also limited in the possible surgical treatments for tinnitus
www.nch.com.au/tonegen/index.html : website were you can freely download a tone generator. This can help you decipher the exact frequency of the tinnitus you are suffering from.
